Arcade Games, Study and Coffee: Check out Haere-roa

Located opposite the Health Centre, Haere-roa’s a hub for UC students and the Students’ Association.

There are a bunch of good things inside, from a bar to social spaces. Check it out!

Free games in the social space

The solution to your boredom between lectures: UCSA recently nabbed two arcade machines, which are free to play as well as being stacked with the classics (we’re talking Pac-Man, Frogger, Donkey Kong and more).

The Social Space also has table tennis and fooz ball, while The Foundry has pool.

Our tip: You’ll need tunes, so pick something from the playlist (it’s next to the vending machine).

The Foundry Bar

UC’s iconic student bar, where there’s something on every weeknight during term. Stop by for a coffee, a meal or have a go at one of their rituals. They’ve just updated their menu and it’s looking good. They’re open 8am till late weekdays.

Follow The Foundry on Facebook.

Study space galore

Haere-roa’s definitely one of the nicest places to study on campus: here’s our case:

  1. It’s not too crowded.
  2. You can sit in the amphitheatre when it’s sunny, or move inside onto a cosy beanbag.
  3. You can rent a charger from UCSA Reception upstairs if you need one.
  4. You’re 30 seconds away from The Foundry’s espresso machine.

A heat-and-eat station

Bringing lunch in? The kitchenette has microwaves, a sink (with boiling water for your Two Minute Noodles) and areas to chill.

Event spaces

Haere-roa’s where you’ll go for some of the best events in town, from wellness expos to big night-time gigs (when those happen again …).

Club facilities

The Clubs are at the heart of campus life, so to help them thrive there’s a clubs meeting room and printing facilities.

UCSA Services

The Exec have offices downstairs, CANTA Magazine are there, too, and if you head upstairs, you’ll find Reception where you can rent out bikes, book a welfare appointment or grab a Metro card.
