DESCRIPTION:The Investment Society along with Hatch Invest are here to help you pass some time while in lockdown! Our Stock Portfolio Competition is back for 2020 and has been brought forward to give you another thing to use as proscratination for all those uni assignments. \nThis competition gives you $100\,000 USD of cash to invest in equities and commodities over 6 weeks (until 5pm on the 18th May) to try maximise your portfolio value. This is sure to be an interesting time in the market so get amongst it without losing your study-link money. If you’re not sold yet\, maybe our $1000 of cash prizes will interest you! First place will win $600\, second place $200 and third place $100 with 2x$50 spot prizes up for grabs as well. \nTrading starts on Monday 6th April and ends on Monday 18th May. Register before the game starts to get used to the platform and have a few practice trades. \nIf you don’t know where to start\, there are plenty of introductory videos on the platform to help you out with navigating the website or trading in general. \nInstructions to join our challenge:\n1) Follow this link to the platform:\nhttps://www.virtual-stock-exchange.com/account/dashboard \n2) Click on register in the top right hand corner. Put in your details and make USD your practice currency. Put your reason for joining as ‘Investment Club’ and then click register at the bottom. \n3) Once you’re signed up\, click on Challenges on the top menu bar and then click Join a Challenge. \n4) Search for our game “The Investment Society Stock Portfolio Competition’ and click Join. Enter the game password ‘theinvestmentsociety’. \nNow you’re in and you can get started. We recommend watching a quick tutorial on how to use the platform found on the platform’s website.

We’re hosting a weekly art competition to help get you through lockdown. \nThis week is a little bit different… \nWe are teaming up with University of Canterbury Alumni Community and we want to see your pieces that remind you of Christchurch or UC \nEither post your entry here on the event page or DM us (Insta or Facebook) a photo of your work by 8am Monday each week. There are now two prizes on offer\, with the best Student\, and the best Alumni piece receiving a $100 supermarket voucher each. Please mention whether you are a student or Alumni when you submit your piece. \nFor everyone who entered in week 2\, the winner will be announced tomorrow. \nTerms and Conditions:\n• This competition is being run by the University of Canterbury Students’ Association (UCSA)\, and UC Alumni.\n• You must be a current or former University of Canterbury (UC) student to enter this competition.\n• All Entries will be entered into the competition\, and the winner will be selected by the UCSA exec.
