The band is an eight piece formation that\nincludes driving rhythms\, uplifting harmonies and enchanting horns. \nA year after the release of their first EP ‘Earthly Delights’\, Dr. Reknaw are thrilled to be celebrating their debut studio album with a nation wide tour. \n‘REKTIFIED’ is a 9 track journey\, through soul\, roots\, hip-hop and psychedelic sounds\, seamlessly woven together over some of the most grooving rhythms. Josh Burke (Vocals) and Matty Coleman (Bass) were working on an acoustic music project when they decided to expand their acoustic duo to a full 5 piece band\, which set the stage for Tyler Robbins (Drums)\, Mattisse Kennedy (Guitar) and Saba Charles (Keyboards) to join the band to form what is now known as Horizone \nThe sound of Horizone is broad and is constantly overflowing into new musical genres. “Shine”(2019) has a chill reggae vibe and is inspired by NZ legends\, The Black Seeds and Fat Freedy’s Drop. SUMMARY:Exhibition “TRUE LOVE: A Tribute to Grant Lingard”
DESCRIPTION:Thu 29th April – Friday 28th May – 10:00am to 4:00pm – Ilam Campus Gallery\, School of Fine Arts Building 2\, University of Canterbury\n⠀\nGrant Lingard was many things: from a West Coast mining family\, he was a snappy dresser\, an avid collector of everything from action-toy figurines to records\, a Punk Disco dancer\, a storyteller\, an instigator of the Christchurch Artists’ Collective\, companion to his black cat Black Cat\, a graduate of the School of Fine Arts programme\, and\, of course\, a gay man at a moment when attitudes towards homosexuality\, and the law\, were changing.⠀\n⠀\nIf he has the distinction of being ‘…considered by many to be New Zealand’s leading gay visual artist’[1]\, he was also a victim of the tragedy that struck the gay community in the 1980s: AIDS. With his death Aotearoa New Zealand lost an artist and art activist of significance too soon\, his legacy left barely revealed. Perhaps this is a failure to acknowledge “queer art heroes”\, or because the 1980s are easy to forget\, or because his work had ephemeral\, feral qualities that make its collection and preservation difficult.⠀\n⠀\nWhile TRUE LOVE cannot fill the void\, 25 years later\, we hope to contribute to an ongoing discussion about this wonderful\, queer person. Live acts will grace the stage throughout the night and all you have to do is show up in your Sunday best! \nTickets for Grad Ball always sell fast – so make sure you get yours sooner rather than later. \nTickets are on sale from Monday 29th March at 7.00pm and will end on Wednesday 14th at 5.00pm. \nWe will do our absolute best to cater for all dietary requirements\, but please note that the food service will be canapés-style. DESCRIPTION:Mono Presents: Hot Donnas\, Kimono & Friends\n\nSince 2017\, Dunedin four-piece Hot Donnas have been creating music primed to get bodies moving\, heads banging and brains hooked on their infectious melodies and fired up rock attitude. Fresh off the back of the release of their fired up single ‘Two Brains’\, Dunedin-based rock group Hot Donnas release their new EP\, ‘The Adventures of E-WAN’.\nAcross six tracks\, the EP dives into a rich blend of indie\, grunge and surf-rock sounds that provides a definitive picture of the band Hot Donnas have flourished into over their last year of performing\, writing and recording. The record is long-lasting in its impact and quality; this is a statement of intent from Hot Donnas. An introduction to some\, and an exciting update for fans who have been with them since their 2017 debut album\, Greek Yoghurt. Hot Donnas have been releasing music and touring consistently throughout NZ and even out to Australia in the three years since their debut. Their energy on stage is unmatched and with their new music ready to go\, the band is champing at the bit for their return to touring.\nKIMONO is a four-piece indie rock band hailing from Ōtautahi\, Aotearoa. With heavy influence from local indie rockers\, to classic Funk\, obscure Jazz\, and psych rock KIMONO is on a one-way ticket to froth.
