DESCRIPTION:Between Each Other is a group exhibition presented by third year sculpture students from the Ilam School of Fine Arts\, Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha. \nThe students’ research emerges from surveying the coexisting space between selected content\, intersecting with the work of two other artists. Looking out to external influences and modes of practice raises the question: ‘are we operating as independently as we feel we are? What am I intersecting and what is intersecting me? Acknowledging that a research practice coexists with a multitude of exterior and interior elements all influencing each other reciprocally played an important role in the production of this group exhibition. \n  \nHeld in the Ilam Campus Gallery\, 10am – 4pm daily.

Frequently pushing that sensual sweet-spot between genres\, Cut Snake’s rough and ready party vibes come out of the studio with slick sonic edges\, holding their own just as well at banging peak-time as at a lazy afternoon poolside sesh.\nHaving spent the first decade of his career as a pro surfer\, Cut Snake’s Leigh ‘Sedz’ Sedley got into dance music while touring the world for surf contests\, inspired by the underground scenes in each country he visited. The career transition from beach to beats was remarkably smooth. Whilst waiting for waves he fine-tuned his production skills from beachfront bungalows\, giving his music its unique taste: fresh as\, and just a little salty.\n\nRaised on Australia’s Gold Coast\, Cut Snake was originally a duo between Sedz himself and childhood friend Paul ‘Fish’ Fisher until 2018. DESCRIPTION:After 9 long months\, Mono Nights returns! And what a way to start \n\nHailing from Auckland\, NZ. Sly Chaos is a Drum & bass duo with Conor Till & Michael Enderby.\n\nThe two have started to make quite the name for themselves\, quickly rising through the ranks. They have had the opportunity to play alongside some of the biggest names in drum and bass and they have worked with a huge number of promoters around New Zealand\, building up quite an impressive resume. They’ve supported some of the biggest artist in the game such as Andy C\, Friction\, Pendulum\, Wilkinson\, The Upbeats\, AMC\, Black Sun Empire and Hybrid Minds – just to name a few. It’ 2022 and the lads are showing no signs of slowing down. Since releasing their debut track 22 months ago\, they’ve dropped 15 tunes with 7 of them being in the NZ top 20 charts. They also have countless tracks and collaborations in the works\, multiple tours on the way and have plans to cross over the ditch mid year! Let’s just say this year will be their biggest yet.\n\nIn support we welcome MYLEN.\nHailing from Auckland\, Mylen has built his name on infectious melodies and dance floor energy. The young kiwi producer has quickly launched himself onto the world stage since the success of his debut single ‘Galaxy.’ Since then\, Mylen has made his mark worldwide\, with releases on European labels Korsakov and High Tea Music gaining recognition from some of the worlds leading Drum & Bass producers\, and peaking at #2 in the NZ Hot Singles charts. George and Tex’s musical backgrounds range from hip-hop to classical music\, but it was their obsession with drum and bass which brought them together during university. Now\, Pirapus’ various musical influences translate to their diverse catalogue of dnb music\, making their DJ sets entertaining and loaded with energy.\nTheir production has gained praise both nationally and globally from Netsky\, Koven\, Lee Mvtthews and The Upbeats to name a few. With more summer releases and another run of New Zealand’s biggest festivals on the way. It’s safe to say Pirapus are only just beginning their exciting journey in the world of drum and bass.\n\nPORIS\nPORIS has quickly created a name as a highly skilled DJ\, and as someone you need to pay attention to. After bursting onto the scene in early 2020\, PORIS (real name Paris) has toured nearly non-stop since. She has already graced the stages of Rhythm and Vines\, Bay Dreams\, Northern Bass\, and the majority of the most notorious venues around New Zealand. She has also played support to some of the biggest names in DnB including\, Kanine\, Netsky\, Alix Perez\, Hybrid Minds\, Andy C and A.M.C. PORIS shows her passion for drum & bass by throwing down energetic sets and flooring audiences in any and every setting.\n\nFOXTROT\nFlorence Ferguson\, also known as Foxtrot\, had a stellar breakout in 2021. Pōneke-born and Ōtautahi-based\, Foxtrot began spinning some tunes as host of RDU 98.5FM’s Lost Sundays\, before quickly gaining traction among the hard hitters of the underground ’03 scene.\nA big lover of old-school trance\, breakbeat\, and electro\, the genre-bending DJ has secured slots alongside some of Ōtautahi’s finest local talent; Keepsakes\, Texture\, Liam K Swiggs\, & Ultraviolet. Drawing influence from fun-loving techno DJs such as Anetha & VTSS\, there really isn’t anything Foxtrot would shy away from.\n\nBUTTON B\nBethan Madoc aka Button B is a new\, upcoming Wāhine dj to join the Christchurch scene.
