DESCRIPTION:Kicking off Arts Fest in style! Want a break from assignments and a chance to win a share of $400?💰\n\n\n \n\n\nCome grab a blank paper mask\, take it home and decorate it in any way that you’d like – get creative with it!\n\n\nArts Fest is all about different forms of expression\, so utilise various textures\, shapes\, sizes\, colours\, materials etc\n\n\n \n\n\n🎭 Pick up mask during office hours from UCSA Reception (Level 2\, Haere-roa)\n\n\n🎭 Create your masterpiece \n\n\n🎭 Write your name\, student email and phone number on the back\n\n\n🎭 Bring back to UCSA Reception by noon\, Friday 20th May\n\n\n🎭 Masks will be on display in Haere-roa Social Space between May 23rd – 26th for everyone to enjoy\n\n\n🎭 Competition Prizegiving will take place on May 27th. A selection of entries will be invited to attend.\n\n\n \n\n\nThe fine print:\n\n\nOpen to 100 entries only. Competition closes 12pm 20 May 2022\, no late entries accepted. Prizes for 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd as determined by the judges. $400 total to be won across the prizes. Judges decisions are final. You must be a current UC Student to enter. Submitted masks must have contact details on back to be eligible.

Come participate in the Arts Fest Photography Competition!\n\n\nThe theme for this competition is urban/street photography\, which is up to your own interpretation! Some examples can be seen on our poster.\n\n\nIf you want to learn more skills before taking your photos\, attend our Phone Pics 101 workshop on May 17th\, or our competition workshop on May 23rd (more information on our Facebook page).\n\n\nThe fine print:\nYou can enter one time per category\, the categories are photos taken by phone\, and photos taken by a camera.\nPhotos must be submitted by noon\, May 25th.\nSubmissions can be made by sending photos to our social media pages\, or by emailing photos to photographyclubuc@gmail.com. SUMMARY:Student Show Series
DESCRIPTION:Between Each Other is a group exhibition presented by third year sculpture students from the Ilam School of Fine Arts\, Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha. \nThe students’ research emerges from surveying the coexisting space between selected content\, intersecting with the work of two other artists. Looking out to external influences and modes of practice raises the question: ‘are we operating as independently as we feel we are? What am I intersecting and what is intersecting me? Acknowledging that a research practice coexists with a multitude of exterior and interior elements all influencing each other reciprocally played an important role in the production of this group exhibition. \n  \nHeld in the Ilam Campus Gallery\, 10am – 4pm daily.

DESCRIPTION:Bands are back for Week 3 of Mono Nights! \n\nMake sure you wear pink to celebrate Pink Shirt Day May 20th. \n\nDolphin Friendly’s live performance quickly became an acclaimed ground-breaking phenomenon for the New Zealand live music scene\, with the band relentlessly touring their jaw dropping show of hard Rock N’ Roll antics\, allowing them to quickly climb the ladder to gaining status as being one of the best emerging rock acts of New Zealand.\n\nWithin two years of the bands inception\, they have charged the New Zealand music scene aggressively\, having played some genuine feats such as Bay Dreams\, Rhythm and Vines\, Electric Avenue\, Soundsplash\, and opening for Kiwi and Aussie thumpers Shapeshifter\, Lime Cordiale\, Skegss\, Bootleg Rascal\, Jungle Giants\, L.A.B and Mako Road.\n\nCurrently one of the most active NZ hip hop artists on the live circuit\, ‘The Underground King’ aka Big Sima is no stranger to the big stage. During his come-up he has played support for everyone from Busta Rhymes to Bone Thugs’n’Harmony\, Guru (Gangstarr)\, Mobb Deep and Cypress Hill. His stage presence and overall performance acumen can only be matched by the sonic value of the beat-bumping\, bass-box booming mixes courtesy of longtime friend and fellow collaborator Tiki Taane.\n\nThe last two years have been exceptionally busy on the live front; with guest appearances on stage with both Summerthieves and Dolphin Friendly\, as well a special bucket list performance of ‘Revolutionaires’ alongside Tiki Taane and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra at the town hall for ‘Otautahi Proud.’ As well as those notable guest appearances\, Big Sima also started picking up momentum on the festival circuit with performances at Go Live\, Summer Sounds and Soundsplash.\n\nBig Sima is back in 2022 with a new album & a new band\, but the team\, the dream and the work ethic still remains the same\, expect big things!\n\n——————————————————————————\nThe MONO specific stuff:\n Mono is R18 – Bring your Passport\, 18+ card or NZ Drivers licence.\n Don’t forget your UC Student ID!\n Not a UC student?
