DESCRIPTION:Bands are back for Week 3 of Mono Nights! \n\nMake sure you wear pink to celebrate Pink Shirt Day May 20th. \n\nDolphin Friendly’s live performance quickly became an acclaimed ground-breaking phenomenon for the New Zealand live music scene\, with the band relentlessly touring their jaw dropping show of hard Rock N’ Roll antics\, allowing them to quickly climb the ladder to gaining status as being one of the best emerging rock acts of New Zealand.\n\nWithin two years of the bands inception\, they have charged the New Zealand music scene aggressively\, having played some genuine feats such as Bay Dreams\, Rhythm and Vines\, Electric Avenue\, Soundsplash\, and opening for Kiwi and Aussie thumpers Shapeshifter\, Lime Cordiale\, Skegss\, Bootleg Rascal\, Jungle Giants\, L.A.B and Mako Road.\n\nCurrently one of the most active NZ hip hop artists on the live circuit\, ‘The Underground King’ aka Big Sima is no stranger to the big stage. During his come-up he has played support for everyone from Busta Rhymes to Bone Thugs’n’Harmony\, Guru (Gangstarr)\, Mobb Deep and Cypress Hill. DESCRIPTION:We are joining the movement to Kōrero Mai\, Kōrero Atu\, Mauri Tū\, Mauri Ora – Speak up\, Stand Together\, Stop Bullying! Will you join us?  \n  \nCelebrated annually around the globe\, Pink Shirt Day began in Canada in 2007 when two students took a stand against homophobic bullying\, after a peer was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. In Aotearoa\, Pink Shirt Day works to create schools\, workplaces\, communities and whānau where everyone feels safe\, valued and respected. \nOn Pink Shirt Day\, Aotearoa comes together to take a stand against bullying and celebrate diversity in all its forms by supporting schools\, workplaces\, and communities to be safe\, supportive\, welcoming\, and inclusive of all. \nDid you know Aotearoa has the third-highest rate of school bullying out of 36 OECD countries\, that one in 10 workers feels discriminated against\, harassed\, or bullied at work and that our rainbow (LGBTQIA+) communities face even higher rates of bullying?  Studies show people who are bullied are more likely to experience mental health issues\, such as depression\, anxiety\, and suicidal thoughts. \n  \nWe encourage you to wear pink to show that you are taking a stand against bullying. Frequently pushing that sensual sweet-spot between genres\, Cut Snake’s rough and ready party vibes come out of the studio with slick sonic edges\, holding their own just as well at banging peak-time as at a lazy afternoon poolside sesh.\nHaving spent the first decade of his career as a pro surfer\, Cut Snake’s Leigh ‘Sedz’ Sedley got into dance music while touring the world for surf contests\, inspired by the underground scenes in each country he visited. The career transition from beach to beats was remarkably smooth. Whilst waiting for waves he fine-tuned his production skills from beachfront bungalows\, giving his music its unique taste: fresh as\, and just a little salty.\n\nRaised on Australia’s Gold Coast\, Cut Snake was originally a duo between Sedz himself and childhood friend Paul ‘Fish’ Fisher until 2018. Sly Chaos is a Drum & bass duo with Conor Till & Michael Enderby.\n\nThe two have started to make quite the name for themselves\, quickly rising through the ranks. They have had the opportunity to play alongside some of the biggest names in drum and bass and they have worked with a huge number of promoters around New Zealand\, building up quite an impressive resume. They’ve supported some of the biggest artist in the game such as Andy C\, Friction\, Pendulum\, Wilkinson\, The Upbeats\, AMC\, Black Sun Empire and Hybrid Minds – just to name a few. It’ 2022 and the lads are showing no signs of slowing down. Since releasing their debut track 22 months ago\, they’ve dropped 15 tunes with 7 of them being in the NZ top 20 charts. They also have countless tracks and collaborations in the works\, multiple tours on the way and have plans to cross over the ditch mid year! Let’s just say this year will be their biggest yet.\n\nIn support we welcome MYLEN.\nHailing from Auckland\, Mylen has built his name on infectious melodies and dance floor energy. The young kiwi producer has quickly launched himself onto the world stage since the success of his debut single ‘Galaxy.’ Since then\, Mylen has made his mark worldwide\, with releases on European labels Korsakov and High Tea Music gaining recognition from some of the worlds leading Drum & Bass producers\, and peaking at #2 in the NZ Hot Singles charts. George and Tex’s musical backgrounds range from hip-hop to classical music\, but it was their obsession with drum and bass which brought them together during university. Now\, Pirapus’ various musical influences translate to their diverse catalogue of dnb music\, making their DJ sets entertaining and loaded with energy.\nTheir production has gained praise both nationally and globally from Netsky\, Koven\, Lee Mvtthews and The Upbeats to name a few. With more summer releases and another run of New Zealand’s biggest festivals on the way. It’s safe to say Pirapus are only just beginning their exciting journey in the world of drum and bass.\n\nPORIS\nPORIS has quickly created a name as a highly skilled DJ\, and as someone you need to pay attention to. After bursting onto the scene in early 2020\, PORIS (real name Paris) has toured nearly non-stop since. She has already graced the stages of Rhythm and Vines\, Bay Dreams\, Northern Bass\, and the majority of the most notorious venues around New Zealand. She has also played support to some of the biggest names in DnB including\, Kanine\, Netsky\, Alix Perez\, Hybrid Minds\, Andy C and A.M.C. PORIS shows her passion for drum & bass by throwing down energetic sets and flooring audiences in any and every setting.\n\nFOXTROT\nFlorence Ferguson\, also known as Foxtrot\, had a stellar breakout in 2021. Pōneke-born and Ōtautahi-based\, Foxtrot began spinning some tunes as host of RDU 98.5FM’s Lost Sundays\, before quickly gaining traction among the hard hitters of the underground ’03 scene.\nA big lover of old-school trance\, breakbeat\, and electro\, the genre-bending DJ has secured slots alongside some of Ōtautahi’s finest local talent; Keepsakes\, Texture\, Liam K Swiggs\, & Ultraviolet. Drawing influence from fun-loving techno DJs such as Anetha & VTSS\, there really isn’t anything Foxtrot would shy away from.\n\nBUTTON B\nBethan Madoc aka Button B is a new\, upcoming Wāhine dj to join the Christchurch scene. Join us for an evening of cultural performances\, food and a movie. You will also get to meet some of the Asian student clubs at UC alongside UC International and Confucius Institute of UC. \n\nVaccination passports are required.\nThe name on your ticket must match the name on your Vaccine Passport.\nFace coverings are mandatory for staff and attendees except when eating and drinking.\nContact Tracing will be in place at all events via QR Code or Manual entry.\nWhen food and drink is served\, all attendees must be seated to be served.\nHand sanitiser & soap available in high traffic areas.\nAttendees to stay at home if they are:\n\nunwell\nwaiting for a COVID-19 test result\nself-isolating\nA confirmed or probable case of COVID-19.\n\n\n\nTickets are limited.
