SUMMARY:UCSA RE-ORI 2021 | The Chats
DESCRIPTION:Formed in their mate’s bong shed in Coolum\, Queensland 2016 at age seventeen\, The Chats represent everything that’s good about Australia and nothing that’s bad: a rebel spirit\, gallows humour and the endless hedonistic pursuit of A Bloody Good Time. Cold stubbies within close reach\, 24-7. \nThe Chats describe themselves as “dropkick drongos from the Sunshine Coast of Australia”. It’d be difficult to argue otherwise. \nTheir dress-down image of mullets\, shorts\, sports tops\, thongs or a sandals-and-socks combo\, and cheap sunnies celebrates this fact. But don’t by mislead: The Chats are sharper than you think\, and they write killer songs that hold their own in any era. \nBut where their forefathers cut their teeth on the spit-and-sawdust circuit of beer halls Down Under\, The Chats bypassed years driving down dusty Outback roads when the lead single ‘Smoko’ became a 24-carat bona fide viral hit on Youtube. The Chats found themselves propelled from their Queensland shed to almost overnight renown in all the right circles. \nMore music followed: single ‘Do What I Want’ (“about doing whatever the fuck you want”) and the glorious follow-up ‘Pub Feed’ (a paean to “above average” pub food\, including “chicken schnitty”\, “parmigiana” and “rump steak – well done”) in 2019\, a song that seems destined to take up residence in punk jukeboxes the world over. The Chats document the simple things in life\, with songs that transcends language to tap straight into the youthful energy source. It’s a tricky artform that many attempt but at which few succeed. Still in their teens\, The Chats have mastered it. \nMozart began composing at the age of four\, but these boys were born singing anthems\, and their debut album seems destined to be the greatest collection of music ever made\, not only in Coolum\, Queensland\, but the entire universe. Every other musician should probably give up today. \nComing out of Sumner\, New Zealand is a unique 5 piece indie alternative rock band\, The Butlers. The band consists of\, mystery masked man stingy hooligan on the sax and keys. George Berèt with the silky vocals and delicious drums. Jordan Kennedy steering the ship with the bass and dotting that cherry on top with his vocals. Bradley Mervin King melting popsicles with the heat radiating out of his guitar. Finally\, Walt Robot running the plays as the fruitful frontman. \nThe band has spent the last three years touring New Zealand and internationally and are showing no signs of slowing down as tours continue to sell out. \nFAQ’s\n– This Event is R18. Please ensure you have valid proof-of-age ID on you – NZ driver’s license\, current Passport\, or Kiwi Access card.\n– Doors are open for two hours from the advertised start time

SUMMARY:MONO Presents: Molly & the Chromatics\, Frank Booker\, 0800 & No Comply
DESCRIPTION:It’s the last week of term and we are celebrating with 4 headline worthy acts on one awesome line up! \n(We definitely didn’t double book the show or anything) \nFeaturing:\nMolly and the Chromatics\nFrank Booker\n0800\nNo Comply\nw/ Support from SUG \n\nMolly & the Chromatics\nMolly & The Chromatics have developed their jazz/funk/pop fusion sound via extensive touring and slots at festivals including Rhythm & Vines\, Bay Dreams\, Soundsplash\, Outfield Festival\, Le Currents and Tora Bombora. \nDon’t miss Molly & The Chromatics’ exciting\, dynamic and enchanting stage presence at Mono Night! \nFrank Booker\nFrank Booker has quietly built a worldwide reputation for incredible edits and DJ sets. His releases have gained huge support from heavy hitting Disco and Deep House DJs such as Horse Meat Disco\, Todd Terje\, Rahaan\, Detroit Swindle\, Session Victim\, Red Greg\, Jimpster\, DJ Nature and many more. \nWhen DJing his music spans a wide array of quality Black dance music: From deepest Disco\, to 80’s boogie and cutting edge house music\, as well as some super special re-edits all put together with a focus firmly on the dancers. Keep on! \n0800\nAuckland hip-hop collective 0800 formed when a group of rappers\, producers and visual artists came together one late night in the studio. This quickly turned into the group releasing a dynamic string of singles and eye catching videos over the next two years. The group bonded over their mutual love for the alternative hip hop scene\, but also each brought in their own unique tastes from other styles\, creating a sound that is genre-defying and refreshingly different. \nNo Comply\nNew Zealand rapper/producer duo\, NO COMPLY take their music seriously\, but themselves\, not so much. SUMMARY:Two Raw Sisters x UCSA Workshop
DESCRIPTION:All eaters welcome: Join Two Raw Sisters for a free workshop demonstrating delicious and healthy student meals you can make at home.\n\nKnown for their fun and inspiring style\, sisters Margo and Rosa are best-selling authors and incredible cooks with a passion for plant-based eating.\n\nTheir approach is all about freedom: whether you’re vegan\, flexitarian\, or a huge meat-eater\, they advocate starting your cooking with plants made in an exciting way\, and then adding your protein later. This philosophy started with their own experiences of chronic health problems\, including endometriosis\, chronic fatigue\, and unhealthy relationships with food and exercise – something they’ll touch on as they prepare dishes.\n\nThe afternoon workshop will start with a session on nutrition hosted by the Flourish Doctors\, GPs Victoria and Jane. The Sisters will then take us through a demo of three budget-friendly student meals. Afterwards\, there’ll be a chance to stick around for a chat and\, if you’re extra keen\, Two Raw Sisters will be selling and signing copies of their cookbooks.\n\n\n**********\nEvent details:\nThis is a free workshop – first in\, first served. You’re welcome to pop down to Ti Kouka (in Haere-roa) from 3.30pm to save a seat.\nLocation: Ti Kouka room\, Haere-roa\nTimings:\n• 3.30pm Doors open\n• 4.00pm Workshop starts\n• 5.00pm Workshop ends\n• 5.00pm Book signing and chat\n• 5.30pm Event ends
