President’s Newsletter: Redphone Issue 1
Kia Ora Team!
Holy heck it is nice to see you all back on campus for 2020, and thank you SO much for all of your involvement across O.Week. Over Orientation we had over 12,000 of you engage with us, and held 14 events (nine not involving alcohol at all and some being R17!).
We’re also at a RECORD number of clubs affiliated with UCSA. It’s pretty cool to know how many amazing communities we have here.
Now that we’re all back into the swing of things, we’re pretty aware you might be settling down and finding things a little bit overwhelming. We’ve put together a short video to help remind you what the UCSA is here to help with.
But hey, there’s more than that. A lot of you, I know, are probably wondering what the Executive has been up to. Well, in response to a number of requests last year we’ve developed a bunch of new initiatives to keep you in the loop with what’s going on. The first of these is the News Page on the website. Here you can stay up to date in real time with news about a bunch of things, including how we’ve been academically advocating for you. Over the year we’ll also be updating you via other mediums, so watch out for it!
Haere-roa has also been updated based on your feedback. We’re putting the social into the social space with some table tennis, foos-ball and a new instant hot water tap for you to get those 2-minute noodles cooking. We’ve also got some bloody good new meal deals in The Foundry ($10 eggs benny, wooot!). Equally, if you’re a club, we’ve updated some stuff for you, too. You guys have penciled in events for days and it’s so cool to see. Don’t forget about the clubs’ meeting room and clubs’ space that’s yours!
We also updated the noticeboard space and the clubs grant policy to help with things like food and trips that little bit more.
This year, look out for some more new and improved things from us, and some new ways to communicate with you all. It’s seriously a really cool opportunity to be in our roles, so we really encourage you to stay in touch with us and make the most of your Students’ Association.
Until then,
Mā te wā.
