ENSOC talk 125 years of events, industry and mates

If you don’t know them, you really don’t know UC.

The Engineering Society, or ENSOC, is turning 125 this year; it’s a major milestone and one that conjures up images of boiler suits, massive events and industry connections.

We caught up with the club’s President, Nick, for a chat and to see why students should sign up!

How would you describe ENSOC to newbies?

Nick: We’re UC’s largest and oldest club. It was created to support engineers academically but it’s evolved to cater to the social side of uni.

As an academic club, what do you offer students?

Nick: It’s an incredibly wide range. The best parties, academic support and industry connections. We enrich every sphere of the student life.

And what’s your best club memory? There must be a few.

Nick: For me, it was my first ever BBQ, beginning of my fresher year with Mako Road playing. What a spectacle!

ENSOC run a big calendar of events. What’s covered?

Nick: BBQs, industry expos, gigs and quiz nights. You can’t miss the new events, especially if you’re in need of a moped.

Does ENSOC sound like a bit of you? Sign up online – it’s easy-as. You can also follow them on Facebook, Instagram or through their website.

If you’d like to see what else the club scene has to offer, check out UCSA’s Club Database – there are around 130 clubs to choose from. Yeah, really.
